Hackney Extension #02

This rear extension was designed for a large Georgian terrace in Hackney, London with a north facing garden. The extension provides a new open-plan kitchen/dining, and living space that opens up to the rear garden.

A white glazed brick wall references the existing Georgian house’s use of white painted brick in lightwells. The curved plan form creates a strong connection with the garden from the new extension whilst retaining a courtyard for direct access and natural light to lower basement level below. The use of a green wildflower roof adds character and improves the connection of the rest of the house with the garden.
