With this project Studio DC completely transformed an existing shabby 1 bedroom flat by swapping the location of the kitchen and the bedroom, moving this to the quieter rear of the flat, and removing a central partition wall to create a large open plan living / kitchen / dining space with a unique ‘loft’ like feel to the front. 

The clients didn’t want the kitchen area to feel too intrusive in the living space so we treated the kitchen itself like a piece of built in furniture arranged along one wall of the main space. Meticulous detailing, and a simple palette of materials such as dark hardwood floors, white painted surfaces and kitchen units, and a large dark glass splash back lends the space a fresh clean look, and allows the kitchen to recede into the background when not in use.
