This Basement extension was designed for a south facing garden to a Victorian terrace in Hackney, London.

The new basement area is designed to have a tall 3 metre high ceiling and abundant natural light, and features full height sliding glazed doors that create a seamless link between the house and the garden. 

A new sunken courtyard garden is an integral feature of the overall design. A simple palette of 2 contrasting brick textures and frame-less glazing create a clean, yet characterful re imagining of the existing house.

Internally bespoke joinery uses a minimal aesthetic to seamlessly integrate features such as the new internal staircase and built-in storage creating a calm, uncluttered space.
